Did That Ministry Leader Just Say I'm a Terrible Dad?

by Bob Gresh,

Several years ago I was listening to a radio program. The guy being interviewed was a well-known ministry leader that traveled all over the country. He made a statement that kicked me in the gut. It was something like this:

“No matter where I am in the world or what I’m doing, I call home to my kids every night.”

Ouch! I’d spent a lot of time on the road, and I couldn’t say the same thing. I began to feel like a terrible dad and that feeling stuck like a duct tape label. The fact is, even if I didn’t call my kids every night...

I’m not a terrible dad!

That ministry leader is not me, and I’m not him. I do things a little differently, but that doesn’t make me a bad dad. At some point, I realized that the enemy wanted me to believe that lie—to feel like a failure. Then I began to wonder what other lies were doing damage in my life?

Let me ask you a question? Do you think there might be a few lies you’re believing? Do you know how to spot them? What’s your plan when you identify one?

At True Girl we are dedicated to planting Truth in our daughter's hearts, and we believe the biggest way to show them to be rooted in Truth is through your life! Parents are the biggest role models for their kids, so why not start there! Our brother ministry, Born To Be Brave, is hosting the the Lies Dads Believe workshop to have powerful conversations about the challenges most dads face!

Join me and my special guest, Co-founder of Manhood Journey, Kent Evans. Together we’ll help you navigate questions like these:

  • What lies are being told to you and other dads?
  • How do you recognize a lie has taken root in your life?
  • How can you replace the lies and start believing the Truth of God’s Word?

Interact and ask questions through live chat and receive a Post-Event Digital Resource Kit to help you kick your dad game up a notch or two.
