How "And the Bride Wore White" Changed My Life

I was fifteen years old when Dannah’s message first captured my heart.

Long before she was a bestselling author and sought-after Bible teacher . . .

Before she reached thousands of girls through the ministry of True Girl . . .

Before she became one of the leading experts on the subjects of sexual theology and parenting tweens and teens . . .

She impacted the life of one girl with her passion for God’s Word and her desire to see others live lives of purity. That girl was me.

Fifteen-year-old Erin was a brand new follower of Christ with a bad case of boy-craziness. Add in some deep daddy wounds and my feet were set on a path toward bad relationship choices, compromised physical boundaries, and deep heartbreak.

Dannah hosted a retreat for just a few of us girls in a tiny cabin tucked into the woods. It was the very first time that the content for what would become And the Bride Wore White was taught. We didn’t know it, but we were the guinea pigs for a message that God has since used to impact thousands of lives.

I don’t remember everything about that weekend, but what I do remember is that all weekend long I heard how deeply loved and accepted I am in Christ. By the time we left the cabin some deep potholes in my heart had been filled by the Truth of God’s love for me, which weakened my desire to look for love and acceptance somewhere else.

By taking the time to point me to God’s love and His Word, Dannah set my feet on a completely different path, one marked by freedom, wholeness, and healthy relationships.

Now as a wife and mother of four boys, I’m overwhelmingly grateful for the impact of Dannah’s message on my own life, and the lives of those I love the most. (In case you’re wondering, I’m still boy crazy, except now I’m crazy about my boys).

I wish Dannah and I could retreat with you to a little cabin somewhere breath-taking to talk about God’s Word. Instead, we want to invite you to join us starting October 7th as we walk through And the Bride Wore White together in a six-week online Bible studyJoin with your youth group, your momma, or your friends. Each week will include poll questions, conversation time, fun themes, Q&A time, and most importantly, a chance to open up God’s Word and hear how deeply loved and accepted you already are.
