What are you wearing today?
Maybe you’re heading off to a big meeting, so you carefully selected your favorite outfit, curled your hair, and put on a bold colored lipstick. Or maybe you’re dropping your kids off at soccer practice, so you threw on sweatpants and tossed your hair into a messy bun! (To be honest, I think we all prefer the latter!)
Whatever you’re wearing today, it’s nowhere near as important as what you choose to wear on your heart.
Here's how God's Word puts it:
“Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.”
Colossians 3:12
You see, in the same way that we spend time picking out clothes to put on each morning, God's Word tells us to spend time “putting on” Truth and qualities that reflect Jesus. This is how we groom and complement inner beauty, a concept that could be a challenge for your daughter to understand. But we'll make it a bit easier with this month's Coaching video from True Girl lead teacher Staci Rudolph.
Of course, nothing teaches better than a godly example! Imagine what your day would be like if every morning (despite the rush of breakfast, brushing teeth, and a matching pair of shoes) you chose to intentionally put on compassion over judgement, kindness over selfishness, humility over pride, meekness over harshness, and patience over anger. I'll tell you what it would be like: your daughter would see it. And she'd choose some of those inner beauty accessories, too!
When your daughter watches the way that you live, does she see mercy, kindness, humility, meekness and patience? Today's a great day to push re-set if you need to be more intentional about how you present yourself to your family.
