How To Enjoy the Sweetness of Words

Before we talk about the sweetness of words, let’s talk about the sweetness of something else… chocolate!

Chocolate is known for its sweet flavor. I mean look at all the chocolate desserts there are...chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, chocolate ice cream, chocolate fudge. Okay, are you hungry now?

But did you know that the base of chocolate, cocoa, is actually not sweet at all? It’s pretty bitter!

Making it sweet takes a lot of work, like roasting the beans, and adding in other ingredients. It’s not an easy process.

Chocolate can be just like our words. Think about a time when you were a little bit upset, was your natural reaction sweet and kind and loving, or was it a little more harsh, and rude? To be able to respond kindly even in really challenging circumstances takes practice and time! Just like those cocoa beans need time and work to become extra sweet.

I have to tell you I am very glad someone puts in the work to make chocolate because it makes me one happy gal. I am even happier when someone shares their kind words with me!

Proverbs 16:24 says,

“Gracious words are like a honeycomb,

sweetness to the soul and health to the body.”

Let the sweetness of other people's words wash over you, let it heal your soul! Then, make sure your own words are doing healing work as well.

We think it’s important for your daughter to know this too, let your daughter take a virtual field trip with Staci this month as she visits one of the most popular cocoa farms on the planet while we learn about the sweetness of our words.
