You know, the Holy Spirit has a really funny way of convicting us and sending the confirmation we need (whether we’ve asked for it or not! *hehe*). Last year, I started prayer walking around my neighborhood a couple mornings a week. But when the cold months hit—mid-fall to early spring here in Central Pennsylvania—I stopped walking. I didn’t stop praying, but there was still something about walking and talking to God that energized me spiritually and also helped keep me active.
Well, the Holy Spirit is using Dannah’s new resource to help get me moving again, both physically and spiritually. Calm Your Anxious Heart: A 28-Day Bible Memory Guide to Psalm 91 is exactly what I needed to kickstart this journey. This guide is like a map, leading us through the Truth of God’s promises, one verse at a time. It’s going to help us not only memorize Psalm 91 but to meditate deeply on its truths. And guess what? By the end of the 28 days, we won’t just have these verses stored in our minds; they’ll be etched into our hearts, ready to ward off anxiety and anything else the enemy wants to plague our minds with.
Philippians 4:6-7 commands us, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." This isn’t a polite suggestion from Paul; it’s a bold directive. And let’s be honest, Paul was onto something. Anxiety has a way of sneaking into our lives, gnawing at the edges of our peace. But when we combine the power of movement with the strength of God’s word, we create a forcefield around our hearts and minds that the enemy can’t penetrate.
So, I’m going to start walking again y’all…Holy Girl Prayer Walkin’. Last time I walked alone. Sometimes a girlfriend would join or I’d talk and pray with my mom or aunt on the phone. This time, I’m inviting my daughters! I’m going to make it a family affair so we can crush anxiety together. I invite you to do the same. You and your daughter walkin’ side by side, reciting scriptures, sharing thoughts, and drawing closer to God and each other. Building that spiritual muscle while getting in some quality bonding time.
Come June 3rd, we’re going to lace up our sneakers, grab our Bibles (or Bible app *smile*), and head out the door. We’ll be walkin’ with purpose, with prayer, with our Bibles in hand, and God’s words on our lips. We’ll be walkin’ to cast off anxiety, to embrace peace, and to live out the command of Philippians 4:6-7.
Let the Holy Girl Prayer Walkin’ begin…are you with me?!
