When I was eight years old, my mom gave me a devotional book called Our Daily Bread. That simple gift became the starting point of my lifelong love for God’s Word. I remember sitting on the edge of my bed, reading the Scriptures and devotions. I didn’t always fully understand what I was reading, but those moments planted seeds of faith that would grow in the years to come.
I have always believed this gift from my mother changed the trajectory of my life, but I never had the statistics to prove it. Until now.
According to a study by LifeWay Research, individuals who engage with Scripture four or more times a week are more likely to share their faith with others and 61% less likely to view pornography compared to those who engage with it less frequently. The risk of sex outside of marriage drops 65%. Loneliness drops 30%. And the list goes on.
Proverbs 4:20-22 sums it up: "My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body."
If you want your daughter to find "life," get her into God's Word.
Interestingly, cracking a Bible just once a week doesn't provide the same benefits. Not even twice or thrice a week. It takes intentional regular time in God's Word to see changes like these.
Today, I’m passionate about helping girls discover that same delight in Scripture—a love that makes them pursue God’s Word on their own, not just because their mom tells them to. It’s a habit that has to be formed now if it’s going to last a lifetime.
But here’s the thing: it doesn’t happen by accident. It requires intentionality—and it starts with you, mom. When you show your daughter that God’s Word is worth prioritizing, she takes notice. When you invite her to open the Bible with you and share what God is teaching you, she’s more likely to follow your lead.
And when you put tools in her hands that make her time in the Word engaging and meaningful, she begins to experience that delight for herself. That’s why I’m so excited about the True Girl Subscription Box. Every box is designed to help your daughter spend time in God’s Word in a way that captures her heart and imagination. From devotionals and creative activities to Scripture memory challenges and faith-building surprises, each box is packed with resources to make her time with God something she looks forward to.
