by Janet Mylin, You know how some dates are just marks on the calendar, and then something happens on that very average date, forever changing it
We celebrate a lot...birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, Easter, Fourth of July, and all those Monday holidays! What do they all have in common...?
An anniversary is typically a reminder of the commitment you made to someone or something. The Fourth of July is a reminder of the independence America gained from Great Britain back in 1776. Easter is a reminder of Jesus’ death and resurrection, which leads to our salvation!
Jewish holidays are no different. While there are 7 major feasts that they honor, the biggest one (and the one you probably know about) is Passover.
Passover is a time to reflect on and remember God’s deliverance of the Israelites out of Egypt. In fact, Jesus celebrated this holiday!
The same God we believe in created this celebration with lots of significance! The Passover points directly to Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. As you study this feast, you will find that the practices they observed all have significance in Jesus’ sacrifice.
Studying the Passover can be a lot of work, since there is so much to it. (That’s one thing I love about it—I can never stop learning about God’s intentional design!) It’s good to start small! As your children begin to learn about the significance of Passover and how Jesus’ death and resurrection fulfills God’s plan of salvation, I would encourage you to add it to your list of holidays. Set the table, sit down and talk about how amazing God’s design is!
True Girl lead teacher, Staci Rudolph, created a date designed intentionally for this and it’s all planned out for you. You and your family will learn some of the fun facts about Passover along with the significance of our faith.
Although this date is part of the True Girl subscription plan, we think it’s so important that we want to share it with everyone!
